What we rate: real-world issues

The Good On You brand rating system addresses three pillars, which are the key pillars of concern to consumers: people, the planet, and animals. Within these pillars, the rating system looks at how well the brand’s activities conform to accepted good practices relevant to the production and distribution of clothing, footwear, accessories, jewellery, beauty, and personal care products (including makeup, nails, skincare, suncare and tanning, haircare, bath, fragrances, and dental care)—and how they impact people, planet and animals. Check the “For fashion brands” and “For beauty brands” section for summaries of the key issues across each pillar in the methodology, and their impact on the overall score.
